Dear Prospective Student:
The Information Systems department at the Forest Park Campus offers a Certificate of Proficiency in Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Transcription and an Associate in Applied Science in Health Information Technology. There are no program enrollment requirements other than meeting the general Admission requirements of the Community College and satisfying the prerequisites of the required courses.
If you are interested in taking the coding classes only, you must have the prerequisites of Medical Terminology and Human Body Systems (prerequisite to Human Body Systems is Bio 111 Introductory Biology) before entry into Diagnosis Coding Systems I and Procedure Coding Systems I. If you have previously taken Anatomy and Physiology I and Anatomy and Physiology II, it is not necessary to take Human Body Systems but you must contact the department for an override.
Your first step to taking any class is to fill out an admissions application in person or go to www.stlcc.edu and click on the Applying is easy!, or, go to any Campus close to you and apply in person.
If you have further questions, contact the department at 314-644-9760.
Sincerely,
Dianne Lee, Department Chair
